Welcome to the Lincoln Arts Centre's Book Club. An opportunity to meet fellow book lovers. Expect a variety of genres from month to month, writing prompts each month for those wanting to flex their creative muscles, and major cosy vibes.
Join us at the LAC Book Club this November as we discuss Julia Armfield’s Private Rites.
To accompany the University of Lincoln’s Festival for the Future we will be reading about three sisters in a drowning world. With topics of grief, love, family and resilience, there will be plenty to discuss!
There is also time for reading, writing, and workshopping at this months meeting. The (totally optional!) writing prompts for this month are:
1. Write a short paragraph on how climate change makes you feel. Consider; when did you first hear about it? Is it something you care about and have adapted to in your daily life? What do you think the future brings with the climate changing as it is?
2. You’re stuck on a raft in the middle of a great flood, what do you do? Who is with you? What are you hoping for?
3. It’s raining outside, you’re 8 years old and stuck inside with your siblings – what do you get up to? Build a fort? Create something? Get up to mischief, do you get caught?
Private Rites is available in paperback, audio, and digital format – please get in touch if you’re struggling to find an option that works for you! If you would like to buy a copy, books are available at the link below: Here
