Lincoln Book Festival’s Flash Fiction Competition Returns!
We’re delighted to announce that Lincoln Book Festival’s popular flash fiction competition is back for 2026! And we’re going all-in with this year’s theme – Hobbies.
Families are invited to drop in and help create a giant collaborative graffiti-inspired artwork full of playful monsters, doodles, colourful characters, and bold lettering inspired by the Have A LAFFF! festival branding.
Led by artist Tinashe Chipawe, participants will use Posca pens and drawing materials on large movable perspex boards to explore creativity in a fun, relaxed, and accessible way. Inspired by the workshops Tinashe delivers with young people through Zest Theatre’s The Zone, the session encourages people of all ages and abilities to experiment with graffiti-style mark making, character design, and imaginative storytelling through art.
Visitors can contribute their own creatures, patterns, and drawings, or work together to help build a large-scale collaborative LAFFF artwork throughout the day. No experience is needed, just curiosity, imagination, and a willingness to get creative.

This is the story of an ordinary dog who went on an extraordinary journey into space.
It’s the summer of 1974 at the world’s busiest airport. Everyone’s excited about their holidays. But what’s this landing on the runway? A spaceship from another world! Arvi the Alien has been sent from Planet X.
