Women on Film – In Their Words

Meet the four participants at the heart of this project: Hajra Kemari, Janet Kealey, Emillia Zirker and Lynn Ritson. Each woman brings a distinct story shaped by commitment, creativity and community contribution, reflecting the diversity, resilience and inclusive spirit of Lincoln.

Petit Versaille director Hajra Kemari has built a vibrant, multi-award-winning couture business through determination, vision and entrepreneurial drive. Her self-made journey is deeply inspiring, and her garments reflect both her creativity and resilience.

At Green Synergy’s Dawber Gardens, Janet Kealey and Lynn Ritson each offer very different perspectives on community and volunteering. Janet volunteers in the gardens and played a role in developments connected to the circular brick entrance constructed with visiting Chinese workers. She also speaks Mandarin, bringing another layer of cultural connection to the project. Lynn co-ordinates Dawber Gardens and oversees the wider work of the Foundation, helping sustain an important community space in the city.

At Lincoln City Foundation, Emillia Zirker’s story speaks to dedication and progression. Now in a senior role, she first became involved through volunteering as the Lincoln Imp mascot for Lincoln City Football Club, demonstrating how grassroots involvement can grow into long-term leadership and impact. This documentary film is produced by University of Lincoln BA & MA Film production students.
