This year Lincoln Arts Centre has had the pleasure of co-curating the very first Frequency Festival Campus Zone. Help us transform Lincoln’s Brayford Campus into a world of digital culture, interactive virtual theatre, and even a Halloween-themed “Diddy Disco” (grown-ups are welcome too!).

Ben Anderson, Creative and Executive Director of Lincoln Arts Centre said: ‘Being one of three Frequency Festival zones is a big deal, through this partnership we have been able to support the festival to bring a variety of events from inflatable monsters, discos for the diddiest of us, interactive digital play labs; all of which put digital innovation, inter-disciplinary working and technology centre stage. I’m particularly delighted to be hosting the launch of the festival at the arts centre, with a performance from a recent graduate: UN/Forgotten Generation. I hope you enjoy our campus zone.”

Thursday 26th October

On Thursday we kick off the Campus Zone with two performative VR experiences: Theatre Electric is a rollercoaster ride through the human condition, a thrilling yet thought-provoking look at our world’s challenges and the imaginative, sometimes bizarre solutions we devise. INTER/HER  is an immersive installation and VR experience that focuses on post-reproductive diseases and pain over 40’s women or those with female organs experience. It’s an intimate, emotional and haunting experience that’s accompanied by a wearable haptic garment that provides a visceral vibration response on the lower body where the diseases, occur alongside a 3D audio soundscape of real personal accounts. Whilst both these are taking place outdoors you can experience an immersive, multi-sensory installation that reimagines ritual and mythology called CoExistence by Beccy McCray.

Thursday is rounded off by The Gift – a blend of stylised theatre, film-making and new writing which explores a world where the control over bodily autonomy has become inescapable. A world where our lives no longer belong to us.

We’re also delighted to be hosting a gathering of National Portfolio Organisations and playing host to the launch of the festival for delegates.

Friday 27th October

Friday is another opportunity to see Theatre Electric, INTER/HER and CoExistence in addition to stunning duet between dancer and animated light in a gripping kinaesthetic relationship called SURGE. SURGE gives life to a future human on the bridge between the digital and organic worlds. Four stellar artists collaborate to create a brand new staged concept album. An immersive, audio-visual, genre-breaking performance, touring exclusive new music from British music producer ITAL TEK.

Saturday 28th October – Family Day!

Saturday is Family day at Frequency Festival, which promises a day filled with fun, creativity, and memorable experiences for parents and children alike. We’ve put together a fantastic itinerary to help you navigate the Saturday of the festival within our Campus Zone.

Kick your day off at 10am at the Campus Zone based at the Lincoln Arts Centre and get hands on at PlayLAB’s interactive workshop Let your little ones unleash their creativity as they explore the fascinating world of digital art and technology. Who knows, you might have a future tech genius in the making!

Get your dancing shoes on and bring your toddlers to Diddy Disco, and prepare to have lots of Halloween-themed fun!

Next up, children can experiment with light and colour, creating their own vibrant masterpieces in the Curious Adventures In Colour and Light. It’s a great way to get them moving and inspired.

Wrap up your morning with a musical note . Let your kids strike a chord and make some melodies with this joyful celebration of music makers at Ode To.

 Sunday 29th October

We finish the festival by stepping into the future of genetic engineering with Choosing Children by the pioneering company Ben Fredericks Collaborations. This groundbreaking production combines theatre and mesmerising digital projections, creating an immersive experience like no other.

Designed to be accessible, this interactive show invites you to play a role and grapple with the ethical questions surrounding genetic manipulation. As the DNA of potential children can now be altered before birth, “Choosing Children” challenges you to consider just how far you’d go. Join us in this theatrical journey and shape the destiny of humanity.

Finally, as if that wasn’t all enough, throughout the festival you can come and find Berzerka, our monster as part of the Lincoln Monster Invasion.
