The University of Lincoln School of Creative Arts are delighted to announce a suite of new post-graduate and PhD opportunities to work, research, and develop at the heart of Lincoln Arts Centre and with other cultural partners.
Based on our beautiful Brayford Pool Campus, and with significant professional and public engagement with Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations, Lincoln Arts Centre and the Barbican Creative Hub, (opening 2024), these opportunities have been designed to help you to take your creative practice and research further.
You may be at the start of your career, or perhaps you’ve already begun to establish yourself as a practicing artist, independent producer, arts manager, or freelance creative. However you are looking to develop your practice and skills, expand your networks, and use your creativity to create change, this course has been designed to provide the tools for you to succeed.
We’ve worked alongside nationally significant organisations such as UK New Artists, Zest Theatre, and Threshold Studios [Frequency Festival] to develop our curriculum, and so industry connections and live briefs are hard-wired into the programme.
From the start of teaching, you’ll be meeting and talking to professionals from across the sector, working in a variety of roles and contexts. You’ll hear directly from potential employers and specialists, and receive bespoke advice to support your own career trajectories through our Professional Practice Clinic.
The course offers the opportunity to benefit from the University’s expertise in both creative arts and business, and you’ll be able to develop practical skills such as developing funding applications, producing marketing materials, creating public-facing presentations, podcasts, and much more.

Building upon our success in the National Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), the Lincoln School of Creative Arts at the University of Lincoln invites applications for a Graduate Teaching Fellowship on Higher Education Institutions, Regional Ecologies, and the Arts and Cultural Industries.
In 2023, the former Lincoln Performing Arts Centre will relaunch as the Lincoln Arts Centre with a remit to further contemporary arts practice, artist and audience development, and research and knowledge exchange. In 2024, the Barbican Creative Hub will open to boost innovation and growth across the region’s arts and cultural industries.
At this pivotal moment in the development and implementation of the University’s arts and cultural strategy, we’re seeking to appoint a Graduate Teaching Fellow to document, chart and contextualise the functioning of these cultural assets locally, regionally, and nationally.
The Fellowship provides a PhD fee waiver plus the equivalent of a UKRI-equivalent stipend (£17668 p.a. in 2022-23) for 4 years of full-time study, to be combined with a limited amount of teaching at the University of Lincoln. The successful applicant will, in addition to doctoral research supervision, be provided with a bespoke, graduated introduction to teaching, involving mentorship, training, and support for attaining HEA Associate Fellow status.
