From 23-26 September we’ve a very special experience coming to Lincoln – we’re hosting the ROUNDABOUT THEATRE FESTIVAL – Paines Plough’s unique touring pop-up theatre, which includes the critically acclaimed play LUNGS by Duncan Macmillan, OUR TEACHER’S A TROLL by Dennis Kelly (writer of West End hit Matilda The Musical) and an eclectic schedule of new writing, stand-up comedy, music and cabaret.
This award-winning theatre-in-the-round feels a little like a space ship inside and will land in front of our building this September, within a specially constructed geo-dome. It is lit by hundreds of energy saving LED lights, can run off a 13 amp plug socket (just like your kettle) and can be put up in 24 hours by just 6 people with an Allen key. According to Artistic Director Craig Morrow:
“There’s never been anything like it in the city and we’re thrilled that Lincoln is one of the few places in the UK outside of London’s Southbank and the Edinburgh Festival to host this unique experience. I’m particularly thrilled about the festival as I think it perfectly captures the excitement of contemporary British theatre and the spirit of the type of work we try to present at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre”.
Other highlights this season include: Lincoln Comedy Festival 1-6 October featuring CHRIS RAMSEY and DICKEN’S ABRIDGED (from the creative team behind Reduced Shakespeare Company); London Classic Theatre’s WAITING FOR GODOT 21 & 22 October; family favourite TREE FU TOM LIVE! 31 October; the Olivier Award-winning Opera Up Close production of LA BOHEME on 7 November and of course, our big Christmas show, PETER PAN 11-24 December.
