The Grandpa with a Jetpack

Once upon a time, struggling writer/director, T.B. Connell, happened across a battered old copy of Anwir Scribes ‘The Grandpa with a Jet Pack’ at a British Heart Foundation charity shop.

Credence

This piece unravels the unrealistic expectations on what it means to be emerging artists trying to navigate the ever-growing ceiling of success and the persistent sense of “standing on the outside”. How does a young artist tackle self-inflicted othering, setting oneself lower to established artists, and overworking to avoid being “exposed”? The dancers use movement and body language to communicate shared efforts to overcome the restrictive thought patterns of self-doubt.

The Story of a Lifetime

Since the dawn of man humans have attempted to communicate art. Whether it was the simple cave painting, the Grecian philosopher debating in the town square, or even when the first silent picture was put to cinema screens.

Carmilla

‘I ask you to pay close attention. Vampirism and vampires are under no circumstances to be interacted with. Allow this record to inform your decisions. It is the only safe way forward.’
