Prescribing Change: From Vision to Action
An progress update from December 2025
Lincoln Performing Arts Centre is looking to present a magical new winter themed show for young children (3-7) and their families to be staged Christmas 2020.
In light of the current uncertainties facing artists and performers, and our position as champions of creativity and learning within the city, we are offering this commissioning opportunity in the first instance to University of Lincoln Graduates – and the commission consists of mentoring and support to create the piece, a guaranteed fee (plus the potential for additional box-office split), alongside set construction, costumes, full technical and marketing support, and lighting and sound design.
Designed to be COVID-safe, with socially distanced practices built in from the start, the commissioned artists will produce a show that responds to one of three potential titles:
Pies, Puddings & Presents!
Snowday!
The Snow Hare in Winter
The piece will be performed in Lincoln Performing Arts Centre’s main auditorium space and will be created and performed by a maximum of two artists. The theatre is currently end-on, but can be reconfigured into other seating arrangements, so long as the overall socially distanced capacity is retained. We are open to other models of presentation that preserve overall ticketed capacities such as smaller, repeated performances. The production should incorporate live music elements (where safe to do so) or pre-recorded original compositions.
The commissioned artists will be able to demonstrate experience of making work for younger audiences but will seek to make the show accessible to as many people as possible.
