Historian and author Sharon Bennett Connolly presents Lincolnshire Women in History, looking at notable women from Lincoln – and Lincolnshire – in the Medieval and Tudor periods. Highlighting women including the formidable Nicholaa de la Haye, castellan of Lincoln Castle and Sheriff of Lincolnshire, Katherine Swynford, grandmother of the Tudor dynasty, Katherine Willoughby a Tudor duchess who encouraged the spread of Puritanism in Lincolnshire and Protestant martyr Anne Askew, one of only two women to be tortured in the Tower of London.

Author bio: Sharon Bennett Connolly is the best-selling author of 7 non-fiction history books, including Heroines of the Medieval World and King John’s Right Hand Lady: The Story of Nicholaa de la Haye. Her latest book is ‘Heroines of the Tudor World’. A Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, Sharon also writes the popular history blog, www.historytheinterestingbits.com and co-hosts the podcast A Slice of Medieval with historical fiction novelist Derek Birks. Sharon regularly gives talks on Women’s History; she is a feature writer for All About History, Tudor Places and Living Medieval magazines and her TV work includes ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’
