Queer Stories – Autumn 2026
Fresh off the back of successful seasons including Just What the Doctor Ordered (Spring 2024), Hope and Joy (Autumn 2024) and Home Is Where the Art Is (Spring 2025) the team are already looking ahead to Autumn 2026.
We’ll be platforming queer stories as part of a season celebrating pride and joy curating contemporary visual and performing arts that shine a spotlight on the stories, creativity, and resilience of LGBTQ+ communities.
In 2024, we commissioned Data Culture Change to produce a detailed report exploring the needs and interests of our diverse communities across Lincoln and the Greater Lincolnshire area. The findings revealed that Lincoln holds the highest proportion of LGBTQ+ identifying individuals within the Midlands – ranking 6th overall in the UK, outside of London – making it a vibrant hub of queer culture and identity!
We believe this is something to celebrate boldly, creating a space that reflects the voices of our local communities.
Each year, with the continued support of Arts Council England and guided by our artistic policy Open to Ideas, LAC curates two seasons of contemporary visual and performing arts events, informed by this knowledge of the place that we call home. This policy sets the foundation for our programming priorities, outlining the types of work we aim to support and showcase.
With our Autumn 2026 season theme in mind, we are inviting artists, performers, and creators to submit work to our Open to Ideas portal. Whether your proposal is an early-stage idea, a work in progress or a finished product – we want to hear from you.
We are seeking submissions that align with our programming priorities – works that are distinctive, brave, inclusive, inspiring and global. We’re especially interested in projects that:
-
- Deliver cutting-edge live performance and contemporary art events with global perspectives and innovative tech.
-
- Champion socially engaged participation that empowers our communities.
-
- Drive innovation, research, and skills development to grow the cultural sector.
-
- Offer inspiring workshops and events for children and young people.
Due to the volume of submissions, we may not be able to respond to everyone individually. However, if your proposal aligns with our vision for the season, a member of our team will be in touch.
Please read our Open to Ideas artistic policy carefully before submitting a proposal
